In Germany ... “on top !“ It might sound a little presumptuous, but we want and won’t promise more than we can support. “On top“ in the North, Northern Frisia, each year on the third and fourth weekend in August the NF-Cup, the indoor-handball-tournament is being held. So geographical “on top“! “On top“ too, because the NF-Cup became the biggest indoor-handball-tournament of Germany. On both weekends almost 240 teams with about 3000 aktive players, just like coaches and assistants participate at the tournament and fight for goblets, medalls and other awards. With that the NF-Cup is also “on top“ because of it’s resonance. This development happend of course in the change of time. 1980 was the first NF-Cup as a small-field-handball-tournament. Unfortunately that year the field-tournament was covert by rain and since some teams arrived already an “emergencyplan“ for 12 teams was written and they played in the “Realschulsporthalle Bredstedt“. The idea of an indoor-handball-tournament was born. 1981 it started officially! 28 men and women teams were part of the beginning! 1987 already 120 teams were taking part of the tournament. This is til this day, at least at the adult teams. The NF-Cup is now taking place in 12 gymnasiums in Northern Frisia at the third weekend in August. Since 1993 also the youth NF-Cup is being held, just one week later than the adult NF-Cup. Also this tournament had it’s beginning with 30 teams, starting from the minis til the male and female youth A and is now equal to the adult NF-Cup with it’s 120 participating teams. 1997 we started our NF-Cup-Camp. It was and still is a good thing, although the weather has a very important part in each years success. Now it’s a permanent part of the NF-Cup and we try to make it better every year. If the weather is playing it’s part nothing can beat the atmosphere at the camp ... Both tournaments made the NF-Cup to the biggest and most popular indoor-handball-tournament.
